A Cheery Hello!

Today's featured stamper on SCS is ScrapNExtras (Laura).  Her gallery was full of fantastic cards and great ideas.  I decide to case and modify her Wanna Party? card.   I just got the Summer Picnic designer paper and Tart and Tangy set in an order the other week and it worked perfectly for this challenge.

I used real red and old olive markers to ink the cherry stamp from the Tart and Tangy set.  I stamped it on scrap whisper white cardstock and cut them out.  I adhered them on a 1 1/4" bashful blue circle.  I layered this circle on a 1 3/8" whisper white circle and a real red scalloped circle.  White gel pen dot accents were added to the bashful blue circle and the real red scalloped circle.  I made two layered scalloped circles for my card.

I inked the "Happy Hellos" sentiment from the Lot of Thoughts set with real red ink.  I stamped the image on scrap bashful blue cardstock and used the 1 1/4" square punch to punch the image out.  It was then matted with a 1 3/8" whisper white mat and a larger real red square mat.  I added white gel pen dot accents to the bashful blue and real red mats.  I made two of these layered square mats for my card.

I ticket corner punched the corners of the Summer picnic dp mat and adhered it to a larger whisper white mat.  I added red gel-a-tin dot embellishments in each corner and adhered the layered square and circle mats on my cardfront.  I tied a red and white dotted grosgrain ribbon around the center of my cardfront and attached it to a real red card.

A Golf Bag Inspired Birthday Card

The Saturday Inspiration Challenge on SCS was to find something in your home and use it has inspiration for making a card.  Can you believe that I found inspiration in my husband's green and brown golf bag! LOL  He really wants to buy a new set of golf clubs this year and the kids and I are giving him money for his birthday to help him buy a new set.  This card is for his birthday.

I inked the Canvas stamp with close to cocoa ink and stamped it on a mellow moss mat.  I pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges and adhered it to a close to cocoa mat and the a chocolate chip card.

I stamped the Golfafella stamp in basic black in and used markers to color the image in.  I pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges and matted it on close to cocoa and chocolate chip mats.  I adhered this matted image in the upper left corner of large mellow moss mat.

I created a golf ball inspired layered sentiment with a 1 3/8" close to cocoa circle, a chocolate chip designer label and a 1 1/4" whisper white circle.  I used the cuttlebug and small bubbles embossing folder to emboss the whisper white circle.  I wanted it to look like a golf ball and I liked the way it turned out.  I stamped the " 'fore' your birthday " sentiment in chocolate chip ink on a piece of mellow moss cardstock.  I pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges and attached it over the golf ball.

Yeehaw Cowgirl!!!!

Happy Friday everyone!  Today's challenge on SCS was to use flowers in our design and another element that we bought but haven't used yet.  My two elements were the prima flowers and the ribbon.  It was a fun challenge because I got to dig around in my stamp area and I realized that I have a ton of stuff in there that I haven't used.  But don't tell my husband that or I will be band from buy more stamping stuff! LOL

I'm not going to go into great detail on how I made this card - it is pretty self explanatory.  I colored my image in with my copic markers - another item that I really haven't used alot lately.  They are really great to work with and they give excellent coverage.

I pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges of the dark pink primas and I really liked the effect it created.  I need to start using my primas on my cards - they add so much dimension.   Well, I am off to take my kids skating.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Water Misted Spiral Bouquet

Today's challenge was to add some kind of sprayed element to your card.  I decided to do the water misting technique.

I just received my new Papertrey Ink order yesterday and I couldn't wait to use the beautiful inks and cardstock.  I paired the new colors with the Spiral Bouquet set for this technique.

I inked the solid flower images from the set in sweet blush ink, misted the images with water and then stamped them on a piece of PTI white cardstock.  I repeated the same process for the stems that had been inked with SU! certainly celery ink.  Once the images were dry, I inked the coordinating detailed flower images with berry sorbet ink and stamped them over the solid images.  The detailed stem image was inked with certainly celery ink and stamped over the solid image.  I added clear rhinestones to the bases of the flowers.  I pulled sweet blush and berry sorbet ink off the edges of the white mat and adhered them to berry blush and sorbet mats. I had pulled berry sorbet ink of the edges of the berry blush mat before adhering the mats together.   

I inked the "Friends" and the "forever" sentiments from this set with berry sorbet ink and I stamped the images on a white mat.  I used the corner rounder punch to round the left corners on the mat and then I pulled sweet blush and berry sorbet off the edges.  This mat was adhered to a sweet blush mat that had been corner rounded on the left side and had berry sorbet ink pulled off the edges.  These where then matted on a larger berry sorbet mat.  I added clear rhinestones to the sentiment. 

The large sweet blush mat was embossed with the stylized flower embossing folder and the cuttlebug.  I pulled berry sorbet ink off the edges and adhered it to the berry sorbet card.  I tied pieces of white organdy and berry sorbet satin ribbon around the cardfront and used dimensionals to adhere the two small mats to the cardfront.

Wild About You Flap Fold Card

Thanks for all the get well and Easter wishes.  I am feeling a bit better and I just couldn't stay away from my stamps! The challenge on SCS today was to make a flap fold card.  This is such a fun card to make and I will definitely be doing this for my technique groups. 

I started off with a soft sky card base.  I used the coluzzle and circle template to create a rounded flap for my card.  I pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges of the cardfront and then pierced the edges of the flap.  I tied a piece of chocolate chip grosgrain around the flap.

I inked the weathered stamp with chocolate chip ink and stamped the image on a piece of chocolate chip cardstock.  I matted this on a piece of creamy caramel cardstock and pulled chocolate chip ink off the edges.  This was then adhered to the soft sky cardbase.  I added a row of piercings around the edges of the chocolate chip mat.

I inked the lion stamp from the Wild About You set in creamy caramel ink.  I stamped the image on a piece of whisper white cardstock and then cut the image out.  I inked the image again, added chocolate chip ink to the tips of the lions mane with a chocolate chip marker, stamped the image and cut the head and mane out.  I adhered the head/mane image over the creamy caramel image and used a basic black marker to color the eyes and nose.  I attached the lion image to a 1 1/4" chocolate chip circle that had been matted with a 1 3/8" soft sky circle and a creamy caramel scalloped circle.  I had pulled chocolate chip ink off the soft sky and creamy caramel mats before adhering them.  I also pierced the scallops on the creamy caramel scalloped circle.  I used dimensionals to adhered the matted image to the flap of my card.

I inked the "wild about you!" sentiment with chocolate chip ink, stamped it on whisper white cardstock and used the large oval punch to punch the image out.  I pulled chocolate chip off the edges and matted it on a 1 1/4" chocolate chip circle.  These were then matted with a soft sky designer label and a 1 3/8" creamy caramel circle.  I had pulled chocolate chip ink off the soft sky and creamy caramel mats before adhering them together.  I added some piercing accents to the chocolate chip circle and then attached this matted sentiment to the lower right corner of my cardfront with dimensionals.   I used Basic Grey magnetic snaps to close my flap fold card.

I'm Down... and Out of Commission

After taking care of my family while they suffered through bacterial pinkeye, nasty colds and then a round a viral pinkeye I have finally reached my breaking point.  Now that they are on the road to good health, I have contracted the nasty cold and have viral pinkeye....in both eyes. :(    So, I am reluctantly tearing myself away from my stamping haven and will try to get lots of rest (yeah right - wishful thinking with two 6 years olds off on break this week).  Hopefully I will be back up and running by Sunday to participate in the Featured Stamper Challenge.

A Bella For a Cause

Today's challenge on SCS was to use a tag element in our card.  I am the head of the decorating committee for a launch we are hostessing for the Breast of Friends 3rd cookbook lauch so this challenge fits perfectly with what I have to come up with.  The Breast of Friends have created two national bestselling cookbooks and the net profits from the sale of the books are donated to the fight against cancer.

I inked the Causabella image with basic black ink and stamped it on a piece of whisper white cardstock.  I watercolored the face and legs with blush blossom ink, the hair with close to cocoa ink, the dress in pretty in pink ink and the ribbon with regal rose ink.  I outlined the hair with a chocolate chip marker and the dress and flower with a regal rose marker.  I applied dazzling diamonds to the ribbon with a 2-way glue pen.  I added a rhinestone to the center of the flower.   

The whisper white mat was adhered to a ticket corner punch regal rose mat and then attached to a large pretty in pink mat.  I used the slot punch to attach the pretty in pink tafetta ribbon to the card.

I ran a large regal rose mat through the cuttlebug and the de'vine embossing folder to create a dry embossed background.  The matted whisper white mat was adhered to this large mat with dimensionals and a pretty in pink tafetta ribbon was tied around the mat.  I attached the regal rose mat to the pretty in pink cardbase with dimensionals and added rhinestones to each corner.

I stamped the 'think pink" stamp in regal rose ink and used the small oval punch to punch the sentiment out.  I matted the sentiment on a large oval pretty in pink mat and attached it to my pretty in pink tafetta ribbon.

Ginger Blossom Embrace Life

Today's sketch challenge on SCS required us to use a layer of different patterned designer paper.  I immediately grabbed my package of Ginger Blossom dp and this is what I came up with.

I stamped the flower image twice from the Embrace Life set on whisper white cardstock in basic black ink.  I sponged groovy guava and ruby red ink on the petals, cut the flowers out and added white gel pen dot accents.

I inked the "embrace life" sentiment in basic black ink and stamped in the lower left corner of a small whisper white mat.  I matted this piece of cardstock with river rock and ruby red square mats.  I adhered these mats on a scalloped groovy guava mat.  I attached the two stamped flower images above the sentiment.

I pierced the top and bottom of my river rock cardbase with tools from my crafter's tool kit.  I added a groovy guava mat inbetween these two pierced rows.  Mats of ruby red and river rock were added to the the groovy guava mat.  I distressed the edges of the river rock mat with the distressing tool on the cutter kit.  I cut three different sizes of squares from the Ginger Blossom designer papers. I adhered these to the river rock mat and added a row of piercing at the top and bottom of this mat.  I tied a piece of river rock stitched ribbon around this strip of matted cardstock and then attached the matted flower images to the right of the ribbon, with dimensionals.

A Double Challenge Card

I made a double challenge card tonight.  It is based on the MFT sketch challenge and the SCS color challenge.  One small problem though, I mistakenly used almost amethyst instead of orchid opulence.  Oh well, I am not going to change it now.

I stamped the bunny image from the MFT Eggstra Special set in black noir palette ink.  I cut the image out and colored it with copic markers.  I stamped the double egg image from the MFT Hoppy Easter set in black noir palette ink on whisper white cardstock and used the cuttlebug and nestabilities square dies to cut it out.  I colored the egg images with SU! markers and pulled almost amethyst ink off the edges of the mat.  I created a scalloped sage shadow mat with the cuttlebug and nestabilities dies and matted the whisper white mat on it.  I added white gel pen dot accents to the scallops.  I adhered the bunny to the left side of the egg images and then attached an almost amethyst sponged layered flower from the Pretties kit in the upper right corner of this mat.

I embossed the large kraft mat with an embossing folder and the cuttlebug.  I ticket corner punched the corners and pulled almost amethyst ink off the edges.  I also sponged almost amethyst ink over the embossed surface to add to some color to the embossed images.  I attached this mat to a large almost amethyst mat and added white gel pen dot accents to the corners.  I tied white organdy and lavendar dotted organdy ribbon around these mats and adhered them to a sage shadow cardbase.

I created a "Happy Easter" sentiment tag by stamping the "Happy Easter" sentiment from the Eggstra Special MFT set in black noir palette ink on almost amethyst cardstock.  I punched the image out with the large oval punch and adhered it to the bottom of the scalloped sage shadow mat.  I add white gel pen dot accents around the stamped sentiment.  I used dimensionals to attach the stamped image/sentiment to the right side of my cardfront.

Paperwork Avoidance .... Negative Emboss Resist

So I am suppose to be tackling my mounds of paperwork today but I am stamping instead ... sigh! LOL!  Oh well, the paperwork will still be there after I update this blog.

Today's challenge on SCS was to use a cuttlebug and an embossing folder and make a negative resist card.  This is such a fun technique and possibilites are endless.

I started by inking my stylized flower embossing folder with a brayer and soft sky ink.  I placed a piece of whisper white cardstock in the folder and ran it through the cuttlebug.  I pulled blue bayou ink off the edges and adhered it to a large soft sky mat that had the corners punched with the ticket corner punch and blue bayou ink pulled off the edges. 

I inked the swirled sentiment from the Garden Whimsy set with blue bayou ink and stamped it in the lower right corner of a small whisper white mat.  I inked the butterfly image in soft sky ink and rock'n'rolled the image into my blue bayou pad, stamped it on a piece of scrap whisper white cardstock, cut it out and attached it in the upper left corner of this mat.  I add paper pierced designs to the upper right and lower left corners of this mat and pulled soft sky and blue bayou ink off the edges.  I punched a flower shaped from soft sky cardstock, pulled blue bayou ink off the edges of the petals and attached it in the center of the swirled sentiment.  I added dazzling diamonds to the dots on the butterfly's wings and to the center of the flower. 

I matted the whisper white cardstock on a soft sky mat that had ticket corner punched corners and blue bayou ink pulled off the edges.  These two mats were then adhered to a larger blue bayou mat.  I used the slot punch to attach white organdy and blue bayou stitched ribbon to this mat and then tied it around the larger whisper white and soft sky mats.  These where then attached to the blue bayou cardbase.
