Groovy Pocket Heart Card

I was so excited to see that Jodi (Kharmagirl) was the Sunday Featured Stamper this week.  I really love her work and it was so much fun to CASE her card.

I modified the layout a tiny bit, changed the color combo and eliminated one stamp set from my design.

I created the smaller heart mat by altering the pocket heart template.  I added a double row of 1/2" circles to create a scalloped border on the inside lobes of the heart. 

I just love how Jodi used the white gel pen to accent the berries, the flower centers and the dots on the heart.  I mimiced the same attention to detail in my card.

A Cheerful Cherish

Today's challenge on SCS was to create your own designer paper. 

My designer paper was made with the cherry stamp from the Tart and Tangy set and the flourish stamp from the Friendship Blooms set.  I added the handwritten sentiment "sweet" beside the edge of each cherry stem. 

I decided to use bright colors for this card and picked gable green and real red.  I accented the scalloped edges and the gable green circle with white gel pen dots.

One of a Kind Coaster Post-it Note Holder

This is a project my stamping girls made this month in their technique groups.  I found a wonderful tutorial on how to make post-it note holders out of coasters on Andrea Walford's blog and I thought this would be perfect project for my classes.

I decided to make a kind of shabby chic based post-it note holder and pink and brown are one of favorite color combos right now.  The berry bliss designer paper works so well with the One of Kind set so I paired them together for this project.

There was a lot of sponging on all cardstock layers but I think they add the perfect touch to the shabby chic vibe.  These are so much fun to make and the girls really liked them.  For complete details on how to make them, please check out Andrea's tutorial - http://andreawalford.com/?page_id=138

Cherry Blossom Beauty

Today's challenge was to use eyelets on your card.  After I read the instructions, I realized that I haven't used eyelets in a very long time. 

My friend asked me to make her wedding invitations so this challenge gave me the perfect push to work on a design for her.  Her wedding has an asian theme and I thought the Out on a Limb Papertrey set would be perfect for her invitations. 

The tree limb is stamped in creamy caramel ink, the flowers are done in pretty in pink and I used a really red marker to make the centers of the flowers.  I was trying to replicate the look of cherry blossoms. 

The large pretty in pink mat was dry embossed using the cuttlebug and textile embossing folder.  I think it adds an "asian" flair to the card as well.  I hope my friend likes what I have come up with.

Birthday Blast-off!!!!

I seem to be losing my stamping mojo lately and I am really not in love with this card.  I probably should have replaced half of the striped mat with a solid colored mat and added some kind of embellishment in the overlapped area. Oh well, the card is done and I just have to keep stamping until my mojo returns I guess! :)

Today's sketch challenge on SCS was to use an oval shape on our cardfront.  I decided to do another spaceship birthday card so I have one on hand for another party.

I used very few embellishments on my card - only brads and a happy birthday rub-on sentiment.  I really wish I would have bought those star punches because they would have added the perfect touch.  I better add them to my next order!

The concentric ovals were made using a cuttlebug and the oval nestabilites dies.   

The rocket ship was stamped on whisper white, brillant blue, pumpkin pie and old olive paper.  I paper pieced the images onto a soft sky mat and then added white gel pen accent to the dots on the ship, the window and the stars in the background.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Wednesday.  We finally woke up to temptures on the plus side this morning so perhaps our snow will be melted by the end of the week!

Dotted Birthday Card

A girl can never have too many birthday cards prepared ahead of time, can she?  Today's technique challenge gave me the opportunity to do just that.  We had to layer our ribbon on our card and I decided to use a bright fun colored ribbon today - pink organdy ribbon with white polka dots.  I layered it against some wide white organdy ribbon.

I just love PTI's Women in Life set - especially since it is spring and I can't wait for the flowers to start poking out of the ground.  I stamped my flower images in pink passion ink, adding barely banana centers to each flower and three white gel pen dots.  I cut the flowers out, curled the petals forward and adhered them to the ends of my stamped stems and leaves image.  The stems and leaves are stamped in certainly celery ink.  I layered this stamped mat on a larger pink passion mat and then adhered it to my white cardbase with dimensionals.

I stamped the "Happy Birthday" senitment in the lower right corner of the cardfront in pink passion ink and then added three pink gel-a-tin accents under the sentiment.  I tied pieces of white organdy and pink organdy/white polka dotted ribbon between the layered image and the sentiment.

Aqua Mist Polka Dotted Sister Card

Today's featured stamper on SCS is Kristi (mommylvs2stamp).  It was alot of fun to look through her gallery - lots of great ideas there!   I settled on casing her Women of Life card because I thought it would make a great card for my sister.

I started by dry embossing a large mat of aqua mist cardstock with the swiss dot embossing folder and my cuttlebug.  I used a white gel pen to dot the top of the embossed dots, to make them stand out more. 

I like adding a bit of dimension to the flowers by cutting them out and  curlingthe edges of the petals forward.  I also added three white gel pen dots to each flower center.  I decided to add a stylized silver flower ribbon slide to the ribbon treatment because it mimics the stamped flower images on the cardfront.

A Spacey Happy Birthday!!!!

I finally got to do a challenge this week and I managed to combine three challenges into one card! 

For the technique challenge we had to incorporate paper tole into our design and I layered the pumpkin pie cone and band on the three spaceships.  I also layered the windows too.

I used the sketch challenge layout from Wednesday's challenge.  I used bashful blue, brillant blue, whisper white and Jersey Shore designer paper in my layout.

Today's challenge was to use rub-on's and I used the "Happy Birthday to you!" sentiment from the A Perfect Day Rub-on's set.

Well, I better get back to cleaning up my house before my stampers come tonight.  I hope everyone is having a great week - the weekend is almost here! :)

Dotted Hippo Onesie Card

I haven't had a chance to participate in any of the SCS challenges this week because I have been getting ready for my technique classes this month.  This is one of the cards my girls will be making - a baby onesie card.  I saw the tutorial on Lauren Meader's (mytime) blog and I knew that my girls would love making this adorable baby card. 

I started with a 4 1/4" x 11 whisper white cardbase and folded it in half.  I used a 1 3/8" circle punch to punch the neck opening on the fold of the card and then to make leg openings in the lower two corners.  The arms were formed by cutting 1/2" in at the 1 3/4" mark, from the top fold.  I used a hobby knife and cutting mat to angle the sides of the onesie. 

I inked my Polka Dot stamp with pretty in pink ink and stamped the image on my cardfront.  I scored the bottem of the onesie and added three 1/4" regal rose circles to represent snaps.  I created regal rose scalloped circle frames with the 1 3/8" circle and scallop circle punches.  I adhered the scalloped frames over the neck and leg opening and trimmed off the excess.  I added a strip of regal rose cardstock to the edge of each sleeve.

I masked the sentiment on the hippo stamp from the Pun Fun set with tape and inked the hippo image with basic black ink.  I removed the tape and stamped the image on the front of the onesie.  I inked the image again, stamped it on scrap whisper white cardstock and cut the hippo and balloon images out.  I watercolored the hippo with pretty in pink ink and added white gel pen dot accents.  I used regal rose ink to color the bow, the hippo's toenails and balloon.  I adhered the colored images over the stamped images on the onesie.
