Simple Blue Butterfly

Where has this week gone!  I thought I would have more stamping time now that the kids are back in school but it doesn't appear so! LOL

Today's limited supply challenge was centered around a wedding theme...something borrowed, something blue, something old and something new.

I borrowed Silke's (sparklegirl) layered butterfly medallion idea, my something blue was the two new blue incolors, my Kind Thoughts stamp set is something old and the two new incolors are something new that I haven't used yet.

The layout of this card is 4x4.  I used the scor-pal to create a grid pattern on the large whisper white mat.  The corners were ticket corner punched and clear rhinestone were added to each corner.  I also added rhinestones to the body of the butterfly.

Inspiring Sunset

Today's Ways to Use It challenge on SCS was to add torn edges to your design.  I just got my Inspired By Nature set (and the Bigshot!!!) yesterday so I was dying to use this set for this challenge.

I utilized two techniques in this card - brayered background and emboss resist.  I stamped my flower images in versamark and embossed them with black embossing powder.  I have a few white flecks in there, not sure where they came from considering it is a new jar of ep. 

I created a sunset behind the flowers using a brayer and various inks.  I torn off the lower right corner of the mat and then I added really rust sponged accents around the flowers and along the edges.  I matted this piece of cardstock on a black mat and torn the lower right corner.  I attached these mats to a large really rust mat.  I punched a hole along the left side and add a narrow and wide black organdy ribbon treatment.

I embossed  the " live with passion" sentiment in the lower right corner of the large really rust mat.  I used dimensionals to adhere this mat to the basic black card.

A Blushing Embrace

I wasn't going to do the color challenge today because I have a ton of other things to get done.  I ended up convincing myself I could take a stamping break. LOL!

Today's color challenge on SCS was to use blush blossom, close to cocoa and ruby red in your card.  I decided to revisit the sponging technique on the embrace life flower image.  I stamped the images on blush blossom cardstock.  I sponged the centers of each flower with ruby red ink and added white gel pen dots on each stamen. 

I decided to create an embossed grid pattern on the large ruby red mat because it needed some kind of textured background.  I added white organdy ribbon because I didn't have any of the correct colored ribbon for the challenge.

Batty Halloween Acetate Treat Box

Today's technique challenge on SCS was to construct an acetate treat box.  Since Halloween is coming up I thought I would make one based on that theme. 

It is hard to see in photo but I stamped the acetate with the spider web from the Web Wishes set.  I used black staz-on ink to stamp the image so that it would not rub off the acetate. 

The layered batty image was created with various punches and colored cardstock.  The top and base were constructed from creepy crawly dp and I added a layered black organdy and tangerine grosgrain ribbon treatment for the handle.

I filled my treat box with halloween easers and foam stickers.  My daughter has an anaphylactic allergy to any dairy products so I tend to give my kids more craft oriented gifts.

Bloomin' Dreams

I pulled out one of my new stamp sets and a couple of the new colors for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS today.  I picked this card of Jessie's (Knightrone) to CASE and modify.   

I kept the layout the same but I changed the colors, the stamp set and the pierced design. I stamped the dreams stamp from the Dreams du Jour set in riding hood red ink.  I watercolored the flowers with pink pirouette ink and the leaves were colored with kiwi kiss ink.   I popped the larger flower up with a dimensional and I added white gel pen dot accents to the center of each flowers.  I added pierced designs to the corners of this mat and to the corners of the large whisper white mat.

I used the same "bloom" sentiment at the bottom of my card, just like Jessie did.  I thought it worked well with the sentiment in the main image.

Peeking Snowmen

Today's Limited Supply challenge was centered around using snowmen.  I only have one snowman set so I had to rely on it for making my card. 

Each snowman face was created from a 1 3/8" punched circle.  I stamped the face on the circle and added a cut-out stamped carrot nose on each of my snowmen.  These heads were positioned on small bashful blue squares and the excess was cut away. 

The stamped snowflake background was created by wheeling the bold snowflake wheel over the large bashful blue mat with white craft ink.  The "let it snow" sentiment was embossed in white embossing powder in the lower right corner of my card.  I added four white sugar coated brads to each corner of the bashful blue mat.

Copic Colored Witch

Today's Ways To Use It challenge centered on utilizing copic markers in your design. I have them but I rarely use them so this was a great challenge for me.  I also got to use my new Lizzie Anne Design witch stamp.

I colored my witch image with copic markers and add silver spica pen highlights on the buckles on her hat and shoes.  I cut the image out and used dimensionals to pop her up in the center of the layered oval mats.

The layered sentiment was created by using a number of punches.  I added one of my new sugar coated brads to my ribbon treatment.  I love the sparkly affect it gives my card. 

Textures in this card were created with the swiss dot ef and the striped dp from the creepy crawly series.

Cherry Box Bag and Scalloped Card

I am still in throws of getting prepared for my stamping groups this week but I thought I would share the hostess gift that I made.  These are are so much fun to make and my girls have agreed that we will be making them for two of our October projects.  I am thinking of also offering the option to make a Halloween themed set but I need to wait until my SU! order of the new halloween dp arrives.

You can find the instructions for the box bag on Di's blog.  The scalloped 3x3 card technique was created by Andrea Walford.  I had a little trouble with the spacing of the scallops at first but I found if I overlapped my punches a little bit it left more than enough room to evenly space the scallops.

I am so excited that that Tart and Tangy set and the Country Picnic dp are in the new cattie.  They are such wonderful products to work with.

Hula Girl Gets a Man

The other night some of my girls in my technique group were commenting on how my hula girl card needed a male element on it.  So I sat down and came up with a hula couple card.

The couple where created using various circle punch sizes.  I cut strands of hair into the bangs and created the strands of grass on their skirts.  I decided to make the hula man with a stomach hanging over this skirt because I thought it would be cute.  I guess hula girl loves her man and keeps him well fed! LOL  Each of the hula people has a lei of punched flowers around their necks that have a white gel pen dotted accent in the middle of each flower.

The sun was created using the coluzzle cutting system and yo-yo yellow cardstock.  That is one color I rarely use any more.  The Warm Words sentiment is accented with a pink passion flower.

Yummy Lunch Note Card

The limited supply challenge for today was to create small cards that could be included in your loved ones lunches and such.  I broke with the standard ATC sized lunch note and decided to create a small square card for my lunch note. 

The watermelon was created using the coluzzle cutting system.  I pulled garden green ink off the edge of the gable green rind and then I added black dots along the edge.

The watermelon seeds were created from cutting the petals off the Three for You punched flower shapes.  The bite mark in the watermelon slice was created by using the scallop circle punch.  I added layered photocorner and brad embellishments to the corners of the card.

The sentiment is from the A Little Birthday Cheer set.  I thought it was uplighting and would make the recipient happy to read that remark.  I hope eveyone has a great Friday!
