It's A WALL.E Birthday Party!!!

Today we are celebrating my other twin's birthday.  They demanded to have separate parties this year with different themes.   

Carson picked a WALL.E theme for his birthday.  Since I couldn't find any WALL.E stamps I had to draw the character free-hand and use punches where I could to create his adorable little robot face.  I probably could have added more details to WALL.E but I had to mass produce this card so I was looking for a design that would be quick and easy to reproduce.    

I decided to use summer sun for the yellow on WALL.E.  It's a color that I don't regularly use so it was nice to incorporate into my my card.  I utilized two different shades of gray - basic and going gray.  WALL.E's pupils were punched from whisper white cardstock as was the computered generated "You Are Invited" sentiment on the large star.  I am not one to utilize my computer for generating fonts for cards but I really like how it turned out and I may have to start adding that element to other cards that I create in the future.

No WALL.E birthday would be complete without a WALL.E cake, right? 

I was happy to come across a Wilton WALL.E cake pan in the city last week.  I just love Wilton cake pans and this one is wonderful, with all the details and colors.

Carson was absolutely thrilled with the end result and I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Glittery Princess Birthday Invitations

We are celebrating Jessie's birthday today and I thought I would share a picture of her birthday invitations that I made.

The theme is princesses of course and she wanted to use purple in the card. I ended up making a non-folding card because it compliments the scalloped matting around the main image.

I printed out the invitations on my computer and personally addressed them to each girl.  I stamped the swirly floral stamp from the Once Upon a Time set, colored the flowers and then cut the images out and added them to the corners of the invitation.  You can't see it in this picture, but I added a dot of stardust stickles to the center of each flower.

I stamped the princess image in basic black ink on whisper white cardstock.  I used my big shot and nestabilities dies to cut her out and added a scalloped mat.  I colored the princess with various SU! markers and then added stardust stickles to the white parts of her dress.  The picture doesn't pick out how glittery those parts of her dress are.  

This is a picture of Jessie's princess carriage cake that I made last night.  I really enjoy making Wilton cakes and my kids love picking out the pan for their birthday cake each year. 

I was going to decorate the carriage with just white and purple icing but I decided to follow one of their suggested patterns instead and I love how it turned out.  The colors are vibrant and Jessie is going to love them because they are some of her favorite hues! 

Well, I should get back to setting up the table for the birthday party and finish filling those goodie bags.  I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday and a great weekend!

Today's challenge on SCS was to make a silhouette card.  Since I hadn't used my Upsy Daisy set yet I decided to make a brayered background for the image and do some emboss resist work with it.

I used two of the new colors for the brayering - baja breeze and pacific point.  I sponged the edges of the flowers within the pacific point brayered area with more pacific point ink so that they would stand out against the brayered area.  

I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple so that the main image would stand out.  I ended up pulling pacific point ink off the edges of the main image and then matted it with baja breeze and basic black cardstock.  I embossed the "thank you" sentiment in the lower right corner of the large baja breeze mat and added some black organdy ribbon.  This large mat was popped up on a black cardbase.

Trick or Treat Witch

I have finally found time to do a SCS challenge.  I have been very busy preparing for my technique classes and I have also been volunteering at the school library.  My poor stamps are starting to collect dust! LOL

Today's challenge features a great sketch layout by Roxie.  I have really been getting into the spirit of Halloween so I grab my Lizzie Anne Design witch stamp and the Spooky Sweets set from PaperTrey Ink.

Instead of using different designer paper blocks for my large mat I decided to stick with one sheet from SU!'s Ghostly Greetings dp. I just love the dotted webs and dotted swirled accents on the paper. 

My witch is colored with copic markers, cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  I added some silver spica marker accents to the buckles on her shoes and hat.

The stamped sentiment was layered on various punched circles and I thought the cut out out stamped bats added a cute element to the card.  I layered pumpkin pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon on 5/8" black organdy ribbon and then added three sparkly orange rhinestones in the upper right corner of the my card.
