Today's Ways to Use it challenge on SCS was to have some kind of crackled element in your card. I decided to use the cracked glass technique. I haven't started making any Christmas cards yet so I thought I should begin with this challenge today.
I stamped my cardinal image in basic black ink on very vanilla cardstock. I used an aquapainter and a few colors to color in my image. I used a sponge to pull riding hood red ink off the edges of this mat and then did the cracked glass technique on it. For the cracked glass technique, you can find an excellent tutorial on the SCS site. Here is a link to it.
I had to use sticky strip to adhere my cracked glass image to the old olive mat because it was heavy and bent from the technique. I adhered those two mats to a larger riding hood red mat.
I used the crafter's tool kit to pierce a design on the large piece of ski slope designer paper and then matted it on a larger piece of riding hood red cardstock. I tied a piece of riding hood red taffeta ribbon around these mats and used dimensionals to pop them off the old olive cardbase. The smaller cracked glass mat was adhered with dimensionals to the large mats.
I stamped the "Merry Christmas" sentiment in basic black ink on very vanilla cardstock. I punched it out with the large oval punch and then adhered it on a piece of riding hood red cardstock and used my scissors to cut an oval mat around it. I used a piece of sticky strip to adhere this mat to my cardfront.
