Punched Elf Ornament Card

Today's featured stamper for the SCS challenge is Dawn (FlowerGal36).  I fell in love with the punched pieced Santa on her Santa is Coming to Town card and I had to CASE and modify it.

I kept the bigz die cut scallop circle base the same but I made mine into a hanging ornament card by adding a tab punched hanger, jumbo pewter eyelet and 5/8" real red grosgrain ribbon to the top of my card. 

I also made a punched piece elf for my card, to replace the Santa that Dawn had put on her's.  The elf was made with various SU! punches but I think my favourite punched element are his ears.  I made them using the 5-petal punch.  I added white gel pen dot accents to his eyes and some rosy chalk cheeks on his face. 

I used the Big Shot and bigz scallop circle die to cut out the striped designer paper layer for the bottom portion of my scallop circle base.  I tied a piece of 1/4" real red grosgrain ribbon around the center of the card and popped the elf up on the dimensionals to the left of the card, along the midline. 

I stamped the "Holiday Wishes" sentiment from PaperTrey Ink's 2008 Holiday Tag Collection in real red ink on whisper white cardstock.  I used the small oval punch to punch the sentiment out.  It is layered on a larger old olive punched mat.

Wishing Ellie

Today's SCS limited supplies challenge stipulated that we use an animal image in our card and to limit the layers, colors and embellishments to three.  One of the colors had to be pink.

I decided the the ellie image from the Happy Heart Day set would be perfect for this challenge.  I colored the image with copic markers and lightly sponged going grey ink around the edges. 

I stamped the "wish big" sentiment from the Short and Sweet set in black ink in the lower right corner of the pink pirouette mat.  I scored this mat in a diamond pattern and pulled going grey ink off the edges.  I tied a length of basic grey taffeta ribbon around this mat.

The whisper white card was embossed with the swiss dot embossing folder and the Big Shot.  I sponged basic grey ink around the edges and I attached a layered light pink organdy and basic grey taffeta ribbon around the middle of this card.  I popped the rest of the mats off the cardbase with dimensionals.

Glittery Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the States!  Today's SCS challenge focused on the giving thanks theme and for once I didn't make a poinsettia card! 

I decided to make a glitter window instead using the largest snowflake from the Snow Swirled set.  I made the window and scalloped frame using the Big Shot and square nestabilities.  Each corner of the ski slope designer paper is matted with a decoratie tab punched corner.  You can find directions on how to make these corners on Laura Fredrickson 's (scrapnextras) blog . 

The "With Gratitude" sentiment is from the With Gratitude set.  I embossed the sentiment with whisper white embossing powder on a piece of baja breeze cardstock.  This was adhered to a larger whisper white mat and I punched a hole on the left side of the sentiment mat using the cropadile.  I added a white taffeta ribbon bow and clear rhinestone bling.

Baroque Poinsettias

I think I am becoming poinsettia obsessed! LOL  Once again I am creating a poinsettia themed card.  I better start focusing on a Santa or snowman theme for my next cards. 

Today's featured SCS stamper is Ebethneu and she has an amazing gallery full of wonderful cards.  Surprizingly enough her poinsettia card caught my eye and I had to CASE and modify it.  I used the same layout she did but I changed the stamp sets.  I also layered my poinsettias and popped them up on dimensionals.  I added a different ribbon treatment and created an oval layered "Joy" sentiment using the Big Shot and oval nestabilities.  The "Joy" sentiment is from the "Peace Love Joy" stamp in the All Holidays set.  I just masked off the other two words with tape, inked the image up, removed the tape and then stamped the image on scrap whisper white cardstock.  

The stamped background on the card was created with the flourish and small flower images from the Baroque Motifs set.  I wasn't going to add any glitter to my poinsettias but I can't stand plain looking petals so I had to add some glitz to them.  I love the shimmery effect it gives and it really softens the color too.  

I hope everyone is having a  wonderful Sunday.  DH is gone to watch the Grey Cup with his buddies so I I think the kids and I will decorate the tree today.

Pearly Poinsettia Joy

My stamping mojo is working a little slow right now.  It seems to be taking me all day to make a card lately but I am pretty happy with how this one turned out.  Today's SCS challenge was to use pearls and I don't think I have ever used them on a card before.

I have been dying to use my new "Christ is Born" set and I thought the poinsettia from it would make a wonderful focal point for my card.  I masked off the center of the flower with tape, inked it up with riding hood red ink and then stamped it on pink pirouette cardstock.  I repeated this step again and then cut out both poinsettias.  I used a quickie glue pen to adhere dazzling diamonds around the edge of each petal and then adhered the two flowers together.  The leaves were created by stamping the same poinsettia image in old olive ink on mellow moss cardstock.  Three leaves were cut out and adhered in various positions around the flower.  I used crystal effects to attach three flat back pearls from the pretties kit to the center of the flower.

I ran the big pink pirouette mat through the Big Shot and used the d'vine embossing folder to dry emboss a swirly background on it.  I ticket corner punched the corners and adhered it to a large whisper white mat that had ticket punched corners.  I adhered a layered circle mat on the left side of the embossed pink pirouette mat, with a small portion of it positioned off the edge of the mat.  I cut the excess part of the circle off and popped up the poinsettia on dimensionals. 

I masked off the "Peace, Love" sentiment with tape and inked up the "Joy" portion of the All Holidays stamp with riding hood red ink.  I stamped it on scrap whisper white cardstock and used the circle nestabilities and Big Shot to cut out and create mats for the sentiment.  A length of wide white organdy and riding hood red ribbon was threaded through punched holes on this matted sentiment.  The ends were attached to the back of the larger mats.   I popped the layered mats off the riding hood red base using dimensionals and then used crystal effects to attach a flat backed half pearl in each corner.

Krafty Cardinal Christmas

This card took me forever to make today.  I just wasn't happy with anything that I did.  I still think it is missing something but it was time to stop fussing and just get it posted! LOL

I die-cut the bigz top note in basic black and whisper white cardstock.  I cut the whisper white mat down a size and stamped the cardinal image in basic black ink.  I used various colors to watercolor the image and then matted it on the large die-cut basic black mat.  I added a pierced border along the edge of the white die-cut mat.  The mats were layered onto a large piece of ski slope designer paper.  These were matted on a large piece of kraft cardstock.  I attached a black brad in each corner of the ski slope dp mat.

The layered sentiment was created by stamping the Merry Christmas image in real red ink on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I punched the sentiment out with the large oval punch, adhered it to some scrap basic black cardstock and trimmed a larger basic black mat for it.  I punched 1/8" holes on either side of the sentiment and threaded wide black organdy and kraft taffeta ribbon through and holes, adhering the ends to the back of the mats.  The layered sentiment was popped up on dimensionals.  The small mats were popped off the basic black card with dimensionals.

Triangle Folded Medallion Poinsettia Card

Now this is a fun folded medallion to make and super easy too.  You can find Lynn's picutres and written instructions here.

My folded triangles are made out of the pink pirouette sheet in the Bella Rose designer paper package.  A stamped the 5-petal flower from the Ginormous Flowers set is layered on punched 5-petal riding hood red and mellow moss shapes.  I added two folded lengths of mellow moss taffeta ribbon on the back of a gold brad before I closed it.  Dazzling diamond glitter was adhered to the stamped flower with 2-way glue. 

It is hard to see in the picture but the riding hood red designer paper mat is pierced around the perimeter.  The corners were ticket corner punched and then this mat was adhered to a larger mellow moss mat.  I add a gold brad to each corner of this mat.

The large pink pirouette mat was pierced around the edges and ticket corner punched.  I attached it to the large mellow moss mat and added gold brads to each corner.  The small mat was popped off the large mat with dimensionals and gold cording was wrapped around the mats. The triangle fold medallion and layered poinsettia were attached to the center of the small mat.  Both mats were popped off the riding hood red card with dimensionals.

A Glittery Christmas Wish

Today's featured stamper is Kendra (kendra on scs).  This is the link to her card that I CASE'd and modified.  Since I have been doing so many square cards lately I decided to go back to the standard card layout.  I haven't used my watercolor paper in a long time and I thought this image would work well for watercoloring.

The image is stamped in basic black ink and watercolored with an assortment of colors.  I love how the rocks on the wall turned out.  I used a few colors on them and I like the effect it created.  The wreath and garland were colored with kiwi kiss ink.  The bows and berries were colored with riding hood red ink and I added dazzling diamonds to the berries with a 2-way glue pen.  I also added dazzling diamonds to the snow covering on the tree and on the ground.

I created the ribbon-like sentiment by stamping "A Christmas Wish..." in riding hood red ink on a piece of watercolor paper.  I trimmed the one end into points, layered it on kiwi kiss cardstock and trimmed the points again.  I tried to imitate the curly effect that ribbon can have by adding a slight wave to my layered sentiment.  I threaded riding hood red taffeta ribbon through the kiwi kiss button and used mini glue dots to adhere it to my layered sentiment.

The large mats were created from riding hood red dp and very vanilla cardstock.  I used dimensionals top pop them off the kiwi kiss cardbase.  The stamped matted image is also popped off the card with dimensionals.

Joyful BlueJay

Today's color challenge on SCS was to use pacific point, certainly celery and going grey in a card.  I can't say that I have used going grey too much so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  It was also the first time I have used my going grey taffeta ribbon. 

I love the cardinal image from the A Cardinal Christmas set and I thought he would be perfect for this challenge.  I turned him into a bluejay using pacific point ink.  I am not too happy with my watercoloring efforts on him, there should have been more white areas but this was the best I could do. The branches are watercolored with going grey ink and the leaves were done with certainly celery.  I added some so saffron ink to his beak and feet.

The "Joy" sentiment is from the stamp "Peace Love Joy" from the All Holidays set.  I used a basic black marker to color the Joy portion in and the stamped it in the lower left corner of the whisper white mat.  This mat was layered on going grey and pacific point cardstock. 

I used the Big Shot and Top Note Bigz die to create a layered panel to the left of the bluejay mat.  The certainly celery dp diecut was layered on a pacific point diecut mat.  They were adhered onto a stamped going grey mat.  I stamped the branch and leave image from the A Cardinal Christmas set in going grey on this mat.  It is layered on a larger certainly celery mat.  I tied lengths of white organdy and basic grey taffeta ribbon around the larger mats on the left side of my cardfront.  The bluejay mat was popped off the cardfront with dimensionals and then the whole cardfront was popped off the pacific point card.

Merry Christmas Snowflake Tree Box

What a fun box to make!  The technique challenge on SCS was based on making this cute little tree box.  They could be used for gift wrapping purposes or to hang on a Christmas tree.  The directions and template can be found at this SCS link.  

The base of my tree was cut from ski slope dp.  I added a riding hood red taffeta ribbon hanger.  The whisper white star was layered with a riding hood red punched snow blossom and a 3/4" baja breeze circle that had been embossed with the snowflake image from the Season of Friendship stamp set.  I added a clear rhinestone to the center of the snowflake to give it some bling!

The large layered snowflake is made of riding hood red and whisper white little felt flurries.  I created the "Merry Christmas" sentiment by maksing off portions of the stamp from the Best Yet sent and stamping the image in riding hood red ink on whisper white cardstock.  This sentiment was punched with the small oval punch and layered on a larger baja breeze oval.  I added two small clear rhinestones to each side of the layered sentiment.
