Hummingbird Dreams Squash Book Card

Lynn had a great card fold for today's SCS challenge.  We had to make a squash book into a card.  I started with a rose red 10"x10" base to make a 5"x5" card. You can find the directions on how to make this card fold here.  

The hummingbird and flower image are from the Dream a Little set from the new cattie.  I inked the solid flower image in pretty in pink ink and stamped it in the lower left corner of the small whisper white mat.  I inked the detailed flower image with rose red ink and stamped it over the solid image.  I repeated this step and cut out the center of the flower on the second image and popped it up over the first image with a dimensional.  The hummingbird image was colored with various SU! markers and stamped on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I cut the image out and then outlined the image with a rose red marker.  It is also popped up on dimensionals.  I added some piercing in the upper left and lower right corners of this mat and then pulled pretty in pink and rose red ink off the edges.  The stamped mat was layered on rose red, pretty in pink and whisper white mats. 

I used the paper piercing tool, foam mat and template to pierce a border around the edge of the rose red dp.  I adhered the dp to larger whisper white and pretty in pink mats.  I attached these mats to the front flap on my squash book cardfront.  I tied a length of whisper white taffeta ribbon around the squash book card to keep it closed and then popped the stamped mat off the cardfront with dimensionals.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!  The cards are done, the handmade presents are finished and wrapped and I am heading bed.  I can't wait to be woken early in the morning by the excitement of my twins as they search under the tree to see what Santa has brought them this year!

The stocking in this picture is a CASE of Lauren Meader's gorgeous stocking that she created from her Timeless Templates line that she designs.  My oldest niece will be receiving this stocking, along with the willow tree angel and some scrapbooking and stamping items this year.

A Dove of Peace

Today's technique challenge was to make a card using the faux silk with a pop technique.  I really love the look of faux silk and I had to try this new technique. 

I decided to use the A Wish for Peace set because I thought a white dove would really stand out against a baja breeze background.  I stamped the dove and church/tree images in not quite navy ink on white tissue paper.  I crumpled this tissue paper up and then smoothed it out again, making sure to leave some wrinkles in the tissue. 

I stamped the dove image again on whisper white paper and cut it out.  I covered the baja breeze mat with adhesive from a glue stick and adhered the whisper white dove in place.  I lined up the white dove with the dove image on the wrinkled tissue paper and then adhered the tissue on the baja breeze mat.  I smoothed out the tissue, making sure to leave lots of wrinkles in place.  The excess edges were trimed to fit the baja breeze mat and then it was adhered to whisper white and not quite navy mats.  I added some dazzling diamonds to the church and tree image with the 2-way glue pen.

I used my scor-pal to score a diamond design in the large whisper white mat.  I used the ribbon slot punch to punch two slots on either side of the smaller matted image.  I ran a length of whisper white taffeta ribbon through the slots and around the larger whisper white mat.  I added a not quite navy brad to the center of the knot on the ribbon to add some contrast.   The smaller and larger mats were popped up using dimensionals.

Glittery Snowy Christmas Wishes

Don't you just love the look of glittery snow caps on the boughs of pine trees!  It is one of my favorite scenes in winter. 

I tried to capture the same look on this image from the A Wish for Peace set.  The stamp was colored with chocolate chip and old olive markers and then stamped on a whisper white mat.  Dazzling diamond glitter was added to the boughs of the trees and on the church. I stamped the "A Christmas Wish" sentiment from the Home for Christmas set in real red ink below the winter scene image.

I matted the stamped image on real red cardstock, punched a hole on either side of the mats and then threaded old olive ribbon through them. 

The base of the card is made of real red cardstock.  I used dimensionals to pop the stamped matted image off a whisper white and ski slope mat.  The old olive ribbon is tied around these two mats and a real red rhinestone brad was added the ribbon treatment.  I think it looks like a holly berry amongst leaves.  The matted layerers were popped off the real red base by dimensionals.

Sockafellabella Gift Certificate Card

It feels like forever since I have posted.  I have been so consumed with trying to finish Christmas gifts and getting cards off in the mail that I haven't had time to post.

Today's challenge on SCS was to make a quick gift.  I had to make a gift certificate for a friend so this challenge gave me the push to get it done. 

The main image is from Stamping Bella and is called Sockafellabella.  I used my aquapainter to color the image with riding hood red, kiwi kiss and blush blossom inks.  I added a length of riding hood red taffeta ribbon to the left of the image and adhered a layered "happy holiday" sentiment over the ribbon.   The stamped mat was adhered to larger kiwi kiss and riding hood red mats. 

I used the layout from yesterday's sketch challenge for my card.  I added four 1" strips of riding hood red cardstock to each side of kiwi kiss dp.  I adhered a piece of kiwi kiss ribbon in the center of each 1" strip and then popped this mat off the riding hood red base with dimensionals.  The stamped matted image was popped off the striped kiwi kiss dp with dimensionals.  This was a quick and easy card to make.  I really love the festive look of it!

Snowflake Christmas Wishes

 Anna (anna'screations) is the featured stamper for today's SCS challenge. 

I picked this card of Anna's, Gauva Blossoms to CASE and modify. I tried to keep the basic layout the same but I added a few more layers. 

I used the same embossing folder on my large baja breeze mat but I changed the color combination.  I added the snowflake Ski Slope dp to the 1/2 circle and long panel on my card and a rididng hood red taffeta ribbon treatment. 

I subsituted the layered riding hood red and whisper white little felt flurries for the stamped flower image that Anna had on her card.  I added a layered oval punched sentiment in the center of the snowflakes.  Two small clear rhinestones adorn each side of the sentiment.  I also added two larger clear rhinestones to the upper and lower right corners of the large baja breeze embossed mat. 

I am so happy I took time out of Christmas card making to participate in this challenge today - it was alot of fun!  Have a great Sunday!

Joyful Sparkly Snowflake

We had to make a monochromatic snowflake themed card today for the challenge on SCS.  The only large snowflake image I have right now is from PTI's Snwofall Additions.  I paired it with the two biggest Marvy snowflake punches.  I decided to use brushed silver and whisper white colors in my card. 

The smaller snowflake image is embossed with silver ep.  It is punched with a snowflake punch and layered on a larger brushed silver punched snowflake.  I added some clear rhinestone bling to the center of image.

The large whisper white mat is embossed with the d'vine swirled embossing folder.  The corners are ticket corner punched. 

The "Joy" sentiment comes from the All Holidays set.  I used the versamarker to single out this word and then heat set it with silver embossing powder.  I punched this image out with the large oval punch, adhered it to some brushed silver cardstock and trimmed a mat around it.  I added some wide silver metallic ribbon to this mat and tied it around the bottom 1/4 of the large whisper white mat.  I popped this mat off the brushed silver cardbase and added a large clear rhinestones to each punched out corner. 

The layered snowflake image was adhered to a mat of whisper white and brushed silver cardstock.  I popped this off the top of my whisper white mat using dimensionals.

Stained Glass Baroque Angel

Today's Ways to Use It challenge was to make a decorative envelope.  I decided to make an envelope to match my stained glass angel.  Sorry for the quality of the picture, I can't seem to capture a good one today.

The image on the card was stamped on vellum cardstock and heat set with silver embossing powder.  I colored the back of the image with markers and then added dazzling diamonds on the wing on the front of the embossed image.  I layered this on triple matted cardstock using silver brads.

The large bashful blue mat was stamped with the flourish from the Baroque Motifs set in stamped off bashful blue ink.  The effect is subtle but I think it adds the perfect touch.  I stamped the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the A Cardinal Christmas set in the lower right corner of this mat in night of navy ink. I tied a length of night of navy grosgrain ribbon around the large bashful blue mat and popped up the stained glass matted image on dimensionals in the upper left corner.  This mat was adhered to the night of navy cardbase using dimensionals.  

I embossed the angel image on the front of my envelope and added some bashful blue flourishes around the image.  I think it looks like clouds surrounding the angel.  She is colored with markers and dazzling diamonds were added to her wing as well.

Sparkly Dove of Peace

Can you believe that I had to make this card - TWICE!!! LOL  I didn't fully read Emily's instruction and ended up using basic grey on my card instead of basic black.  I was ready to upload my first card when I realized I had used a wrong color.  At least I have an extra Christmas card for my stash so all worked out well in the end.

I was so happy to finally use this stamp set.  There are some pretty amazing cards made with it in the SCS gallery and I couldn't resist buy it. 

The dove was stamped in basic black ink on scrap very vanilla cardstock and cut out.  I added dazzling diamonds to the image using a 2-way glue pen.  It is popped up on a dimensional above that wonderful sentiment.  I added some piercing to each corner of this very vanilla mat and layered it on sahara sand and basic black mats. 

The large very vanilla mat is pierced around the edges and matted on sahara sand and basic black mats.  A length of black organdy ribbon is tied around these mats.  The smaller matted sentiment and dove image are popped up on dimensionals, above the large mats.
