Butterfly Basket

It has been awhile since I last posted.  Things have been busy and I just haven't had the opportunity to stamp.  Today was a different story though because I  was asked to submit a door prize for our dance recital this weekend.  I have some cards to give but I needed something to hold them so I decided to make a basket.  I have been wanting to make a Baskets and Blooms card bin since I saw it on Christine Grygar's blog and today's challenge and door prize request gave me the opportunity to make one.

I altered the measurement of the main body of my basket to 7 3/4" x 5 7/8" because I trimmed the perforated flap off the end of the two handle pieces from the Baskets and Blooms bigz die.  I scored each side of the handle pieces at 3/8".  The main body of the basket was scored at 2 3/4" from each end and the scored flaps of the handle pieces were adhered to the body with sticky strip.  I cut two small rectangles of basic black cardstock - 1" x 2 1/4" and scored them along the midline.  Sticky strip was added to each folded side and they were attached to the inside of the short ends of the basket. This helped to cover the gaps between the bottom of the handle pieces and the body of the basket.

I ticket corner punched the corners of a large strip of whisper white cardstock and a strip of pink pirouette dp.  I adhered them together and tied lengths of black organdy and whisper white taffeta ribbon around the center line of the mats. I attached to them to the front of my basket with dimesionals and added a clear rhinestone to each corner.

I heat embossed the butterfly image from the God's Beauty set with versamark ink and detailed black embossing powder.  I watercolored the image with pink pirouette and rose red ink, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals on a layered mat of whisper white and basic black squares.  This was adhered to the front of basket with dimesionals.

Sketchy Butterfly For You

Today has been insanely busy!  I was pricing, stamping, cleaning ... ah, the work of a mother is never done. LOL!  Last night was a write-off because Carson took a spill outside.  We spent awhile in emergency but luckily they didn't have to give him stitches.  They taped the gash above his eyebrow closed and it looks like it is going to hold.  He was very thankful that no needles were involved.

I took a break from pricing this afternoon to do today's sketch challenge.  Can you tell that I really love the look of embossing the butterfly from the God's Beauty set? LOL!  I decided to use one of my favorite color combo's for this challenge too.

I embossed the three flower images and the butterfly from God's Beauty set with detailed black embossing powder.  I watercolored the images with pink pirouette and rose red ink.  I cut the images out.

I prepared the cardfront as per Roxie's sketch challenge requirements. The base is basic black and the panels consist of matted whisper white and pink pirouette dp.   I ticket corner punched the outside corners of the pink pirouette mats and added a sparkly black rhinestone to each corner.  The smaller layered focal mat consists of basic black, whisper white and pink pirouette mats.  I stamped the "for you" sentiment in the lower right corner of the whisper white mat in basic black ink.  I popped the butterfly up on the dimensionals and positioned it the upper left corner.  I adhered the three flowers in various positions on the cardfront and added a sparkly black rhinestone to the center of each flower.

Sorrowful Beauty

Today's color challenge was centered around basic grey, pink pirouette and rose red.  I love this color combo and I knew right away I wanted to use my new Thoughts & Prayers set.

I used the big shot to cut a whisper white and a basic grey top note diecut.  I trimmed the edge off the whisper white mat and pulled rose red ink off the edges.  I inked the floral/foliage stamp from the set with basic grey ink.  I stamped the image in the center of the whisper white top note.  I adhered the smaller mat to the basic grey mat.   I cleaned the stamp, re-inked it with pink pirouette and stamped the image on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I cut the flowers out and pulled rose red ink off the edges of the petals.  I adhered them over the basic grey flowers and added a small pearl to the center of each flower. I used the slot punch to punch an opening on each side of these mats, to thread the ribbon through.

I used the ticket corner punch to punch the corners of the large pink pirouette and whisper white mats.  I pulled rose red ink off the pink mat and adhered it onto the white one.  I used the crafter's tool kit to pierce a border around the pink pirouette mat.   I threaded two lengths of whisper white organza and basic grey taffeta ribbon throught the slots and attached the matted top note to the rectangle mats with dimensionals.  I wrapped the ribbons around the rectangle mat and tied them on the right side of the top note mat.  The matted cardfront was attached the card with dimensionals.  A large pearl was adhered to each corner of the basic grey card.

I stamped the "Sharing in your Sorrow" sentiment in basic grey ink on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I used the large oval punch to punch the sentiment out.  I pulled rose red ink off the edges.  I punched another large oval out of basic grey scrap cardstock.  I adhered the sentiment to the right side of the basic grey oval and attached it in the lower right corner of the top note mat.

Beauty Is...

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo - the lighting is too dark but I can't get the contrast to adjust properly.  I really need to invest in one of those light tents.  That would solve my problems with taking pictures at night.

Anyhow.....I wanted to wish Jamie a huge congrats on being picked for this week's featured stamper on SCS.  She has a really great gallery full of wonderful cards.  I decide to pick this card of Jamie's to CASE and modify.  I kept the layout the same but changed the stamp set, the colors, and the ribbon treatment and added some different embellishments.

I decided to use my new set - God's Beauty for this challenge.  I really like this set for watercoloring and it worked perfectly for the layout of Jamie's card.  I stamped the butterfly and flower images with versamark ink on scrap whisper white cardstock and the leaf images on a whisper white mat.  I heat set them with detailed black ep and used the aquapainter to color the images.  I added darker colors to the lined areas of the images to create depth and shading.  The flowers and butterfly were cut out and adhered onto the embossed whisper white mat.  I added a clear rhinestone to the center of each flower and the butterfly was popped up on the dimensionals.  This mat was attached to a larger basic black mat.  The sentiment from this set was stamped in basic black ink to the right of the leaves and flowers.

I ticket corner punched the striped baja breeze and whisper white mats.  I adhered them together and popped them up on dimensionals on the basic black card.  I added a clear rhinestone to each corner and tied a length of black organdy ribbon around the center of the matted layers.  The focal mat was attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

Thankful for God's Beauty

Today's limited supply challenge was to use 1 wheel, 1 stamp image, 1 sentiment and 1 embellishment.  I paired the butterfly from God's Beauty with the Forever Flower wheel.  My sentiment is from Thank You Kindly and I used pink rhinestones for my kind of embellishment.

I stamped the butterfly image in versamark ink and heat set it with detailed black embossing powder.  I used the aquapainter to watercolor the butterfly with pink pirouette and rose red ink.  I cut the butterfly out and popped it up on dimensionals on a matted whisper white, pink pirouette and basic black mat.

I embossed the Forever Flowers image with black embossing powder on a strip of whisper white cardstock.  I watercolored the image with pink pirouette, rose red and kiwi kiss inks and then matted it on pink pirouette and basic black strips.  The matted strip was adhered to pink pirouette dp and a whisper white mat that had a pierced around the edges.  A pink rhinestone was adhered to each corner of the dp mat.  The "thanks" sentiment was stamped in basic black ink in the lower right corner of the dp and the butterfly mat was popped up on dimensionals above the sentiment.  The matted cardfront was attached to the basic black card with dimensionals to add more height to the card.

A Framed Dino Birthday Crew

I am not great at making masculine cards but I think this one turned out okay.  Today's challenge was to use a frame in our creation.  I decided to create a dinosaur scene and use my square nestabilities to pop up a brillant blue frame around it.

I have been wanting to use my Prehistoric Pals set for awhile now and today was the day!!!  I stamped three of the dino images in different ink colors and cut them out.  I also stamped and cut out the palm tree images. 

I created a sandy background along the bottom of whisper white mat with sponged creamy caramel ink.  I stamped one of the Itty Bitty backgrounds in close to cocoa ink over the sponged sand.  I adhered the dino's in place and then stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment in basic black ink in the upper left corner of this mat.  I adhered this dino scene to a larger Jersey Shore dp mat of colored dots.  I attached these mats to larger brillant blue and whisper white mats and then to a brillant blue square cardbase.  I created a brillant blue square frame with the big shot and square nestabilities dies.  I popped the frame off the edges of the small whisper white mat with dimesionals.

Fifth Avenue Floral Thanks

I haven't had a chance to participate in a SCS challenge in a long time but when I saw Roxie's sketch challenge I knew I had to do it.  I used a floral image from my new Fifth Avenue Floral set for the focal point of this card.

I stamped three flower images on pink pirouette cardstock.  I sponged the center of the flowers with rose red ink and used a rose red marker to color in some areas of each flower.  I cut the flowers out and added white gel pen dots to the center of each flower.  

I added some certainly celery stem/leaf images from the Dream a Little set to each flower.  I attached the flowers to a trimmed whisper white top note diecut.  The center flower was popped up on dimensionals.  The "thanks" sentiment from the Thank You Kindly set was stamped in basic black ink to the left of the center flower.  This whisper white top note was matted to a rose red top note diecut.

I adhered a striped of pink pirouette dp to a larger rose red panel.  I attached them on the lower half of a whisper white card.  I added a length of rose red grosgrain ribbon around the center of this matted strip.  The matted top note was adhered onto the center of the whisper white cardfront with dimensionals.

Flittering Thoughts of You

I have been dying to try out my the new stuff from the mini cattie that just came. I enjoy looking at all the cute matchbox boxes that everyone has been making on SCS so I couldn't wait to make one.  I decided to pair mine with the butterfly and "for you" sentiment from the Great Friend set.

I inked the butterfly from this set in pink pirouette ink and then used a sponge dauber to apply rose red ink around the edges.  I love the way the sponge dauber helps to blend the two colors together.  I stamped the image on whisper white cardstock and then cut it out, leaving a border around the edge.  I thought the butterfly needed some glitter so I used the dazzling diamond dust technique on it.  I added a green colored rhinestone brad to the center of the butterfly to give it more bling.

The matchbox is made of pirouette cardstock.  I added a large rose red mat and a smaller bella rose kiwi kiss dp mat.  I pierced the border of the kiwi kiss mat and adhered it the top of the box.  I stamped the "for you" sentiment in basic black ink on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I punched the sentiment out with the small oval punch.  I stamped some stem/leaf images in kiwi kiss on the small oval and then pulled rose red ink off the edges.  I adhered this to a larger rose red oval mat and attached it in the lower right corner of my box.  The sparkly butterfly was popped up with a dimensional in the upper left corner of the box and a length of rose red grosgrain was tied around the slider portion of the box.

Dreaming of Happiness

Okay, I totally love SU!'s texturz plates!!!  My favorite so far is the swirled design.  I paired it with the floral image from the Dream a Little set and one of the sentiments from the Heard from the Heart set. 

The two larger mats were ticket corner punched in each corner.  I embossed the pink pirouette mat with the swirled texturz plate.  Both mats were adhered to the rose red cardbase.

I created three diecut mats from the top note die from whisper white and rose red cardstock and pink pirouette dp.  I cut the pink pirouette dp top not in half and adhered it to the whisper white mat.  I trimmed the perforated edging off and adhered it a rose red top note diecut.  I inked the "wishing you happiness today & always" stamp from the Heard from the Heart set with rose red ink.  I stamped the sentiment on the pink pirouette dp. A length of rose red grosgrain was tied around the center of the top note diecut. 

The layered flower image was created with pink pirouette, rose red and certainly celery ink.  The flower image was stamped twice and the center of one flower was sponged with rose red ink.  The center of the second flower was cut out, sponged and layered over the first image.  Three leaf and stem images were added to the back of the flower.  The floral image was popped off the cardfront using dimensionals.

Scallop Circle Easter Chick Card

There are alot of cute Easter chick cards on SCS and I just had to try and make one too.  I thought it would also make a cute baby card too.

The card is made from two large sized scallop circles from the scallop circle die #2.  I pulled so saffron ink off the edges of these barely banana circles.  I added two scallop circle wings to the sides of the body.  They had been trimmed with the 1 1/4" square punch to form the upper part of the wing.  So saffron was pulled off the edges of the wings. 

The hair on the top of the head it three points of the 5-petal punch.  It was adhered to the backside of the face.  I used the cropadile to punch two holes, through the front and back of the body.  A length of pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon was threaded through the holes and it holds the card together. 

I added some pretty in pink ink to highlight the cheeks.  The eyes were created from 3/4" whisper white circles and 1/2" basic black circles.  White gel pen dots accent the pupils.  I added 1/2 of a 3/4" barely banana circle to form eyelids on my chick's eyes.  The feet were created from one of the flowers on the boho blossoms punch.
