Simple Butterfly Hinge Card

Sorry for my lack of posts this month.  Things have been majorally busy here.  DH has been gone most of the time - so between the responsibilities of single parenting, daily activites, subbing and prepping for my technique classes and a 10-15-20 there hasn't been alot of extra time for me to do any challenges.  On the few days when I could have participated I was in a bit of a stamping slump and just couldn't produce anything.  I just hate when that happens!

I am so happy I finally found time to do a technique challenge. Lynn had an awesome one this week - hinge cards!  I decided to make a circular card for this challenge instead of a standard or square size.  I have also been dying to use my Simple Friendship set that I ordered last month.  

The butterfly is inked with baja breeze ink and then I used a sponge dauber to apply pacific point ink around the edges.  I stamped it on whisper white cardstock and cut it out, leaving a white border around the edges. 

The large pacific point scallop circle base was made with the big shot and scallop circle die.  I cut a small whisper white circle and a baja breeze dp circle.  I cut the dp circle in half and I cut and bottom 1/3 of the whisper white circle off.  I randomly stamped the flourish image from the Simple Friendship set in baja breeze ink on the small whisper white circle.  I randomly stamped the small solid flower image from the same set in pacific point ink over the flourishes.  I positioned the stamped smaller whisper white circle on the larger whisper white circle.  I positioned the 1/2 circle of dp over the bottom portion of the stamped whisper white circle and added a length of whisper white taffeta ribbon over the centerline of the smaller circles.  A clear rhinestone brad was positioned on the left side to create the hinge for my card.  I added a small bit of adhesive to the back side of the dp and adhered it in place.   I used dimensionals in the upper corners of the wings to adhere the butterfly on the stamped top of the small circle. When you open the hinge card the butterfly moves with the top half of the small circle.  I inked the "thanks" portion of one of the Thank You Kindly sentiments with pacific point ink and stamped it in the hinged area.  You only see it when you open the hinge card.  Hopefully I will be able to share more things I have been working on later this week.

Sunflower Thanks

Today's Limited Supplies challenge was to make some kind of holiday themed card.  I made this card to match the basket that I posted yesterday.  I am giving the basket and card set to my twin's teacher and each of my hostesses this month will also get a set.

I loved the colors and layout that Beate used in this sweet card so I used them for mine!  The sunflowers are made with the scallop circle punch.  I cut the petals apart and added a 1" dotted Bella Rose dp circle to the center of each sunflower.  The greenery was diecut from the little leaves die and old olive cardstock.  The "Thanks" sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly set.  It was stamped on scrap whisper white cardstock, punched out with the small oval punch and matted on an apricot appeal 1" circle.

I adhered the old olive mat to the larger whisper white mat and tied a length of whisper white organza ribbon around the mats.  These were popped off the apricot appeal cardbase with dimensionals.  I used the scor-pal to score a border and diamond-shaped pattern on a smaller chocolate chip mat.  I added a pierced hole to each intersecting line and then popped this mat off the old olive mat with dimensionals.  The sunflowers, foliage and layered senitment were adhered to the chocolate chip mat.

Sunflower Basket

This is part of the gift that my hostesses will be receiveing this month.  I found the idea for the scallop sunflowers on Patty Bennett's  blog.  They are super easy to make and I love the look of them.  I posted a basket last week that gives the directions on how to make the it. 

The base of my basket is apricot appeal cardstock.  I also used apricot appeal cardstock to make the sunflowers.  I punched a scallop circle out of apricot appeal and then used scissors to cut each petal apart.  I added a 1" circle of dotted chocolated chip Bella Rose dp to the center of each flower.  The old olive leaves are from the little leaves die.  The front panel on the basket is comprised of a whisper white and chocolate chip mat with a length of whisper white organza ribbon tied around it.  The three sunflowers are popped off the front with dimensionals.  I added a chocolate chip scallop circle to the handle on each side to dress it up a bit.

The Last Ballerina Card

Here is the last ballerina card I made for the assistant instructors.  I decided to color the ballerina image in rose red for this card and use a rose red, whisper white and basic black color scheme for the card.

I stamped the Lizzie Anne Designs ballerina image in basic black ink on scrap whisper white cardstock.  I used the oval nestabilites and big shot to cut an oval mat around the image.  I colored the image with rose red ink and outlined it with a rose red marker.  I layered the image on a rose red mat and a black scallop oval.  I added clear rhinestones to each scallop.

I ticket corner punched the whisper white and rose red striped dp mats with the ticket corner punch and added a pierced border around the edges.  I tied lengths of black organdy and whisper white taffeta ribbon around these mats and popped them off the basic black cardbase with dimensionals.  I added a clear rhinestone to each corner.  The scallop matted image was popped off the cardfront with dimensionals.

Pretty In Pink Ballerina

I had to make  some more ballerina themed thank you cards for the dance recital this weekend.

I love this card by Sparkle (Sparkplug17) and thought the layout, ribbon treatment and bling would work well for my card.

I used one of my favorite color combo's - pink pirouette, whisper white and basic black.  The Lizzie Anne Designs ballerina is colored with various SU! inks and markers.  She is layered on whisper white, pink pirouette and basic black mats.  The two smaller mats have ticket corner punched corners and a clear rhinestone has been added to each corner.  I used the ribbon slot punch to make two openings for threading ribbon through.   The large mats consist of pink pirouette dp and whisper white cardstock.  The corners have been punched with the ticket corner punch and then a pierced border was added to the pink pirouette dp mat. 

Black organdy ribbon and pretty in pink taffeta ribbon were layered and threaded through the slots on the smaller layered mats.  Dimensionals were used to attach the small mats to the cardfront and the ribbon was tied around the larger and smaller mats.  All the matted layers were popped off the basic black card with dimensionals and a clear rhinestone was added to each corner.

Faviana Inspired Ballerina

Taken with teal is not a color that I use alot and for some reason I couldn't capture the true shade of this color in the photo.  It looks lmore bluish instead. 

For today's inspiration challenge we were to use a Faviana prom dresses for inspiration.  I used this beautiful dress because  I loved the teal color, the black shoes and the bling on the dress.  I had to make some dance-themed thank you cards so I thought the colors and bling would work for my sweet little Lizzie Anne Designs balllerina image.

I watercolored my stamped image with various SU! inks and outlined the image with the coordinating markers.  I ticket corner punched the small whisper white and taken with teal mats and adhered them together.  I matted the small mats to a larger basic black square.  The ribbon slot punch was used to create two openings on the small mats.  Lengths of black organdy and whisper white taffeta ribbon were threaded through them. 

I ticket corner punched the large taken with teal mat and scored a diamond pattern on it.  I added clear rhinestones where scored lines intersected.  This mat was attached to a larger ticket corner punched whisper white mat.  The smaller mats were adhered to the larger mats with dimensionals and the ribbons were tied around the matted layers.  These layers were adhered to a basic black card and a small rhinestone was adhered in each corner.
